OVERVIEW AND NATURE OF WORK:
The Office of the Supervisor of Elections conducts accurate, convenient, and accessible elections to all eligible voters throughout Miami-Dade County. In addition, the office ensures that all federal, state, county, municipal, and special taxing district elections are conducted and tabulated correctly, in a uniform and impartial manner with adherence to federal, state, and local election laws.
As mandated by the state of Florida, specific areas of responsibility for the Office of the Supervisor of Elections include but are not limited to qualifying county candidates for office, designating precinct boundaries, appointing, and instructing election boards. The Outreach Section is also tasked with providing education and assistance to the community, conducting voter outreach, and attending community events.
ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS:
The position incumbent is responsible for conducting the Office of the Supervisor of Elections outreach programs to include attending community meetings and events to provide information on the SOE’s office services and programs, conducting outreach activities in accordance with Florida Statute 98.255 and Florida Administrative Code and Florida Administrative Register1S-2.033. The position incumbent is also responsible for coordinating and supervising temporary/seasonal employees assigned to the SOE office’s Community Outreach and Voter Education section. Exercises discretionary and independent judgement in voter outreach and engagement.
In accordance with Florida Statute 98.255 and Florida Administrative Code and Florida Administrative Register 1S-2.033, assists with Miami-Dade County Public Schools and their Board to register students and conduct voting education programs in each public high school in the County.
Also oversees updates to the Department’s website
