Day to Day
As a Software Engineer II at Marketplace Intelligence and Efficiency - Utility, you will design and build highly scalable ranking and job delivery systems. You’ll collaborate closely with Product, Data Science, and Matching teams to implement new ranking strategies that balance employer and jobseeker objectives. You’ll contribute to technical design decisions that improve match quality, delivery and revenue.
In this role, you’ll contribute to technical design decisions, participate in design and code reviews, and use data and analytics to inform your work. You’ll regularly collaborate beyond your immediate team to support broader initiatives and help drive projects forward, while continuing to deepen your technical expertise and grow as an engineer.
Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain scalable, performant, and reliable software systems.
Contribute to system architecture and technical design, validating solutions through data and experimentation where appropriate.
Participate in code reviews and design reviews to maintain high engineering standards.
Own and support applications during business hours, ensuring system health and reliability.
Make data-informed decisions using metrics, logging, and analytics tools.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners, including software engineers, product managers, data scientists, and designers.
Contribute to projects that span multiple teams or areas of the organization.
Mentor and support the growth of other engineers through feedback and knowledge sharing.
Skills/Competencies
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience
Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (e.g., Java, Kotlin, or similar).
Experience building and operating large-scale, high-performance, and resilient systems.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams.
Curiosity and a willingness to learn, adapt, and take on new challenges.
Education Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Mathematics.

US Remote 109,000 - 159,000 USD per year
Austin Metro 109,000 -159,000 USD per year
NYC Metro 134,000 - 194,000 USD per year
Scottsdale Metro Area 109,000-159,000 USD per year
Seattle Metro Area 132,000 - 192,000 USD per year
San Francisco Metro Area 140,000 - 204,000 USD per year
Salary Range Disclaimer
The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Indeed salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Indeed's total compensation package for employees.
