Software Engineer III, Recommendations, Inspirational Shopping Quality

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
  • 1 year of experience building and deploying recommendation systems models (retrieval, prediction, ranking, personalization, search quality, embedding) in production.
  • 1 year of experience applying statistical and visualization techniques to identify patterns, anomalies, and relationships in data.
  • 1 year of experience in the design, analysis, and optimization of algorithms for systems, as well as developing and implementing machine learning algorithms (e.g., classification, regression, clustering, deep learning) for applications.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  • 1 year of experience with ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, optimization, data processing, debugging).
  • Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs), Generative AI, and Agentic AI frameworks.
  • Experience bootstrapping a project and evolving from zero to one to large scale.
  • Ability to come up with innovative engineering driven solutions for product needs.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with both product/technical and business teams.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $147,000-$211,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Research to understand technical specs of recommendations systems across Search/Shopping stacks.
  • Research state-of-art recommendation system solutions leveraging AI/Agent systems.
  • Identify gaps/opportunities in the system (specifically the retrieval components) affecting Shopping experience and design scalable and reliable solutions to address these gaps.
  • Perform metrics analysis to evaluate the end to end performance.
  • Collaborate with TL/PM/Data Scientist partners to iteratively validate hypotheses and propose next steps.
