Role Overview


We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer with experience in LiDAR-based mapping and HD map toolchains to lead and support the development of scalable mapping workflows for autonomous robotics applications. The ideal candidate will focus initially on scaling and optimizing the existing LiDAR mapping pipeline, as well as contributing to HD map generation and tooling, with future opportunities to grow into broader software integration roles across TII projects.

You will work on the automation and enhancement of LiDAR-based map generation, including processes for cleaning, optimization, and quality control. In the next phase, you will contribute to HD map generation and integration, building robust tools and systems to support the full autonomous stack.


Key Responsibilities


  • Scale and optimize the existing LiDAR mapping pipeline to support large-scale, high-quality map generation.
  • Automate LiDAR map generation, cleaning, and post-processing for improved efficiency and consistency.
  • Develop tools for map validation, visualization, and management.
  • Contribute to the generation and integration of HD maps (e.g., Lanelet2, OpenDRIVE).
  • Build and maintain internal toolchains for HD map editing, alignment, and versioning.
  • Ensure generated maps meet quality and integration requirements for the full autonomy stack.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (localization, planning, infrastructure) to deliver integrated, production-ready mapping solutions.
  • In the longer term, contribute to broader software integration efforts across TII projects, beyond mapping.


Qualifications and Skills


  • Proven experience with Visual or LiDAR-based mapping and map processing workflows.
  • Strong background in point cloud handling, feature extraction, registration, and mapping optimization.
  • Experience with SLAM/localization systems (e.g., Cartographer, LIO-SAM, FAST-LIO, LeGO-LOAM).
  • Familiarity with HD map formats such as Lanelet2, OpenDRIVE, or similar.
  • Proficiency in Python and C++ for tooling and backend development.
  • Solid understanding of robotics software stacks and experience with ROS/ROS2.
  • Comfortable working in Linux environments, using tools like Docker and Git.
