Software Engineer, reCAPTCHA Bot Detection

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of experience with software development in C++, Python, or Java programming languages.
2 years of experience with API design.
1 year of experience developing large-scale infrastructure or distributed systems.
1 year of experience in generative AI and machine learning.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
5 years of experience in software design, development, and testing/launching software products.
Experience building services for observability using logging and metrics or experience analyzing logs to optimize performance.
Familiarity with concepts around trust/anti-abuse, including knowledge of how cookies work, principles of cryptography, etc.
Interest in anti-abuse, cybersecurity, fraud prevention.

reCAPTCHA's mission is to eliminate online fraud at scale. The evaluation and detection teams are at the heart of developing high quality detection of automation and abuse online. reCAPTCHA defends websites from a wide array of threats, including scraping, credential stuffing, account takeovers, and payment fraud. Your work will be crucial in maintaining reCAPTCHA's role as a foundation of internet trust and security, protecting users and businesses worldwide.

As a Software Engineer, you will be helping us deliver high quality security features through our reCAPTCHA product. You’ll analyze data using SQL or other tools of your choice, understand requirements from a manager, customer engineers and product managers, iterating with a customer feedback loop.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $147,000-$211,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

Work with the manager and other leads to own and drive a problem around detection of automation.
Analyze logs/data and collaborate with your teammates to confirm your findings.
Implement solutions using a combination of SQL, Python, and java.
Identify bots at scale and help real humans and legitimate agents.
