Software Integration Tester

Lewisville, United States

System Integration & Testing Associate

About Us:

We build and support tools that help city governments manage their payment collections in the back end, and make life easier for their residents in the front end —think paying utility bills, citations, or taxes through self-service Kiosks and eCommerce payment platforms. Our lineup includes kiosks, Utility Billing software, Court Software, and custom software for agencies across the U.S. If it's a digital problem, we’re probably solving it.

About the Role:

This is an entry-level, in-person role for someone curious, detail-oriented, and ready to dig into how software and hardware work together. You'll help translate client needs into actionable items for developers, test and validate new builds, and make sure everything functions smoothly before it ever reaches production.

As an advocate for the product, you’ll stay organized and proactively follow up with various teams to keep projects moving—whether that’s verifying an issue fix, confirming a deployment, or ensuring outstanding items are addressed in a timely manner.

You’ll serve as a bridge between clients, developers, and hardware vendors, so clear communication and technical curiosity are essential. A strong candidate is a self-starter who takes ownership of problems, digs into the root cause, and communicates findings respectfully and effectively.

In the first few months after a client goes live, our team acts as their main technical contact. This includes understanding, documenting, tracking, and reproducing client-reported issues, collecting relevant logs, identifying recurring patterns, and collaborating with developers or vendors to isolate and resolve root causes.

What You'll Do

  • Configure Hardware and Peripheral for Kiosks such as computers, credit card readers, printers, and barcode scanners using SSH or other manufacturer-provided tools.
  • Install and set up Point of Sale systems on client’s computers.
  • Evaluate new hardware devices—understand how they work, their capabilities and limitations, and how best to integrate them with our systems.
  • Test new and existing software features, APIs, and integrations between applications.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and report software and hardware issues using application logs, Windows Event Viewer, and related tools.
  • Validate that hardware devices (like kiosks, card readers, and scanners) play nicely with our software.
  • Log, track, and retest issues found during testing using our internal tools.
  • Facilitate collaboration among diverse, geographically distributed teams, encompassing developers and support personnel, who may be working in different time zones and possess varying levels of English language proficiency.
  • Verify configuration changes and deployments before they go live.
  • Break down complex products into manageable components to create clear test procedures, document results, and capture lessons learned to improve future testing and product quality.
  • Occasionally assist with field testing and hardware setup when needed.

What We’re Looking For

  • Curiosity and persistence—someone who enjoys figuring out why something isn’t working and proving when it is.
  • Ability to present and explain information to various audiences. How we explain an issue to developers and vendors should be different from how it is explained to clients, sales and project managers.
  • Basic understanding of Windows operating systems and PC hardware.
  • Familiarity with networking concepts (IP addresses, ports, connectivity, network tests like ping, curl, etc.
  • Ability to clearly document findings and follow testing steps consistently.
  • Strong communication skills—you’ll work closely with developers, support, and project teams.
  • Solid organization and follow-through when juggling multiple tasks.
  • Good judgement - no software is perfect and it is important to discern different levels of issues between critical showstoppers and more minor bugs.

Bonus Points If You have…

  • Knowledge of the Android operating system.
  • Experience with building and maintaining computer images
  • Experience testing or working with APIs (especially using tools like Postman).
  • Knowledge about how to query databases such as MS SQL.
  • Understand XML and JSON structure and how to interpret common error messages.
  • Have experience creating basic scripts.
  • Have worked with self-service kiosks, point-of-sale systems, or similar hardware.
  • Have used tools like ScreenConnect, Google Workspace, MediaWiki, or any Help Desk or ticketing software.

If you’re someone who loves finding bugs before they find users, enjoys testing how software and hardware fit together, and likes working with a collaborative, fast-moving team—we’d love to meet you!
