Software Quality Developer I

ABOUT THE POSITION: The Software Quality Developer’s role is to design, code, test, and analyze automated software testing algorithms that verify quality of the Concrete Batch Plant Control System. This includes researching, designing, documenting, and modifying software test cases, running manual test scenarios of the Control System when necessary, and maintaining historic test results. The candidate will be an integral member of the Batch Plant Control System development team and participate in the team’s daily stand-up meetings.

Key Deliverables

  • Maintain existing test cases and expand test coverage by developing new unit tests.
  • Routinely executes categories of test scenarios to verify interim internal releases from product development team, keeping historic record of test results.
  • Document and execute manual unit test cases for test scenarios that cannot be automated.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions to improve the Batch Plant Control System.

Key Activities & Responsibilities

  • Undergo a continuous learning process to grasp breadth and depth of all capabilities of the Batch Plant Control System.
  • Developing, maintaining, and documenting automated test case programs in C#
  • Creation and maintenance of manual unit test case documentation, and execution of them on a routine basis.
  • Recording complete and accurate results of automated and manual test outcomes.
  • Assist in setup and test of new Control System hardware prior to shipment to customers.
  • Maintain and update Batching PC OS and software images.
  • Technical review of customer-facing Control System documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:

  • College diploma or university degree in the field of Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering preferred; equivalent work experience considered.
  • 0-5 years of experience in Software Development
  • Some experience with these or comparable toolsets and technologies is an advantage: Microsoft Visual Studio, C# programming, Microsoft.Net, Microsoft Test, Unit Test theory, Object-Oriented Programming, Appium, Microsoft Access, Visual Basic for Applications, Subversion Version Control.
  • Familiar with PLC-based control systems (IEC 61131-3 Programming Languages) and associated PC-based supervisory systems.
  • Understanding of, or willingness to learn control system electronics.
  • Great attention to detail is necessary to succeed in this role.
  • A passion for analytic, trouble-shooting, and problem-solving tasks.
  • Willingness to repetitively iterate through small variations of test scenarios to seek out root causes of software anomalies in Control System Software under test.
  • Good written and oral communication skills for highly technical subjects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Create and maintain Operating, Testing and Configuration Validating documentation.

Office- Onsite

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of injury in an office environment and occasionally a manufacturing shop plant environment.
