Software Safety Engineer

PPT is seeking an experienced MH-47 Software Safety Engineer to support safety critical aviation programs. The ideal candidate will bring deep familiarity with system and software safety processes, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering disciplines.


Key Responsibilities for the Software Safety Engineer:

  • Develop, review, and maintain safety documentation, including:
    • System Hazard Analysis (SHA)
    • Subsystem Hazard Analysis (SSHA)
    • System Software Verification Plans
    • Zonal Safety Assessment Reports
    • System Safety Assessment (SSA)
    • Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA)
    • System Safety Program Plan (SSPP)
  • Engage with functional engineering teams to gather technical inputs, identify relevant safety critical details, and communicate findings clearly in both written and verbal formats.
  • Participate in design reviews, technical interchange meetings, and safety working groups.
  • Support program milestones and deliverables related to system and software safety.
  • Travel as required to support program activities.

Required Qualifications for the Software Safety Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field.
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in system safety, software safety, or safety critical engineering environments.
  • MH 47 platform experience (operational, engineering, or programmatic).
  • Demonstrated experience with software safety processes and hazard analysis methodologies.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to extract, interpret, and articulate technical information from multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance eligibility at the required level.

Preferred Qualifications for the Software Safety Engineer:


  • Background as a Systems Engineer or experience working closely with systems engineering teams.
  • Experience supporting aviation, rotary wing, or mission critical DoD programs.
