Find The RightJob.

About the Role:

We are seeking a dynamic and technically proficient Sales & Operations Manager to lead and grow our Solar Division. This is a strategic leadership role that combines deep electrical engineering knowledge with strong commercial acumen. The ideal candidate will drive revenue through consultative selling, manage end-to-end project operations, and champion the adoption of solar energy solutions across residential, commercial, and industrial segments.

This position bridges the gap between technical execution and business development — requiring the candidate to communicate complex engineering concepts to clients, coordinate cross-functional teams, and ensure seamless project delivery from proposal to commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Leadership & Business Development

-Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve divisional revenue and market share targets.

-Identify and pursue new business opportunities across residential, C&I (Commercial & Industrial), and utility-scale solar segments.

-Lead end-to-end sales cycles: prospecting, needs assessment, proposal development, technical presentations, and contract negotiation.

-Build and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified leads through networking, referrals, and targeted outreach.

-Collaborate with engineering teams to develop accurate, competitive technical proposals and BOQ (Bill of Quantities).

-Represent the company at industry events, exhibitions, and client meetings.

Operations Management

-Oversee daily solar division operations including project scheduling, resource allocation, procurement, and site coordination.

-Monitor project timelines, budgets, and KPIs to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery across all active projects.

-Liaise with design, engineering, installation, and commissioning teams to maintain seamless workflow.

-Implement and improve operational SOPs, quality assurance protocols, and HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) standards.

-Manage vendor and subcontractor relationships, including performance evaluation and contract management.

-Prepare regular management reports on sales performance, project status, and operational metrics.

Technical Oversight

-Apply electrical engineering expertise to review system designs, single-line diagrams, load calculations, and inverter/panel specifications.

-Ensure all solar installations comply with local grid codes, IEC/NEC standards, and regulatory requirements.

-Support pre-sales technical due diligence, energy yield assessments (PVsyst/PVWatts), and feasibility studies.

-Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues arising during project execution or post-commissioning.

-Stay current with emerging solar technologies, battery storage integration, and smart grid developments.

Client & Stakeholder Management

-Serve as the primary point of contact for key clients, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and repeat business.

-Manage client expectations through transparent communication, progress updates, and proactive issue resolution.

-Cultivate long-term partnerships with utilities, EPCs, developers, and government agencies.

Team Leadership

-Lead, mentor, and grow a team of sales engineers, project coordinators, and operations staff.

-Set clear performance objectives, conduct regular reviews, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

-Collaborate with HR on recruitment, onboarding, and capability development within the solar division.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

-Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering from a reputable, accredited university. Degrees from institutions ranked nationally or internationally will be given preference.

-Professional Engineering (PE) certification or equivalent (e.g., IEM, PEng) is an advantage.

Experience

-Minimum 4 years of progressive experience in the solar/renewable energy industry, with a demonstrated track record in both sales and operations.

-Proven experience managing solar PV projects from pre-sales through to commissioning (on-grid, off-grid, or hybrid systems).

-Experience handling projects with a combined installed capacity of at least 1 MWp is preferred.

-Prior experience managing a team of technical and commercial staff.

Technical Skills

-Proficient in solar system design tools such as PVsyst, HelioScope, or AutoCAD Electrical.

-Strong understanding of solar PV components: modules, inverters (string, central, micro), mounting systems, SCADA, and monitoring platforms.

-Knowledge of local and international electrical standards (IEC 62446, NEC, IEEE, local grid connection requirements).

-Familiarity with energy storage systems (BESS) and hybrid solar-diesel-grid solutions is an advantage.

-Competent in MS Office (Excel for financial modeling), CRM tools, and project management software (e.g., MS Project, Asana).

Commercial & Soft Skills

-Strong negotiation, presentation, and communication skills — ability to articulate technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders.

-Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret energy data, financial models, and ROI calculations.

-Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.

-Self-motivated, results-driven, and entrepreneurial in approach.

-Proficiency in English (written and spoken); additional languages are an advantage.
