Solar Electrician

Full-time • Cheltenham, Gloucestershire • circa £40k DOE

You already know how to wire a board. We want to know if you can look a homeowner in the eye, explain what you've done, and leave them genuinely excited about the system on their roof.

Forever Green Energy is a 13-year-old, independently owned solar company based in Cheltenham. We're small on purpose. No private equity, no corporate parent — just a team that believes in doing the job properly and treating customers like adults.

We install SunPower panels, SolarEdge optimisers, and FoxESS battery systems — premium kit that actually works. Our customers come to us because we design systems around science and lifestyle, not because we're the cheapest quote in the pile.

Every installer and electrician here is fully employed — no subcontractors, no agency staff. You'll work with the same team every day, in a company where quality isn't a slogan on the van — it's the reason we've held a 9.5 on Checkatrade for years.

What you'll actually be doing

• Installing and commissioning solar PV, battery storage (primarily FoxESS / Tesla Powerwall), and EV chargers across domestic and growing commercial projects

• Full electrical first and second fix — you're not just connecting DC cables, you're responsible for the complete electrical scope

• Customer handovers: walking homeowners through their new system, setting up monitoring apps, making sure they understand what they've got

• Ensuring every install meets BS 7671, MCS standards, and our own quality standards (which are higher)

• Working within a small team where your opinion on how to do things better actually gets heard

What we need from you

Non-negotiable:

• NVQ Level 3 / AM2 qualified (or equivalent) — you're a proper electrician

• 18th Edition (BS 7671) — current

• Full UK driving licence

• Living within 30 minutes of our Cheltenham office — you'll need to get here every morning

• Someone who takes pride in a clean install and a tidy site

Ideal but not essential:

• Solar PV experience (we'll train the right person — we'd rather have a great electrician with no solar experience than a mediocre one with it)

• ECS / CSCS card

• 2391 Inspection & Testing
