Job Overview

We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Solid Waste Equipment Operator to support daily solid waste and landfill operations. This role is responsible for operating a variety of motorized vehicles and heavy equipment, maintaining equipment, and assisting with waste collection and disposal activities.

The Solid Waste Equipment Operator will perform fieldwork including landfill maintenance, waste handling, and community collection support. This position requires strong attention to safety, equipment operation skills, and the ability to work in physically demanding outdoor environments. Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of experience operating motorized vehicles or heavy equipment
• Experience operating roll-off trucks or similar commercial vehicles
• Experience working in solid waste, construction, landscaping, or related field environments
• Experience performing routine inspections and maintenance of vehicles and equipment
• Experience supporting waste collection, disposal, or environmental service operations
• Ability to follow safety procedures and operational guidelines
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Basic computer skills for reporting and communication
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to analyze problems and implement effective solutions

Experience Preferences

• Experience working in landfill or solid waste management operations
• Experience handling hazardous or regulated materials
• Familiarity with environmental and safety regulations related to waste management
• Experience supporting community collection or recycling programs

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds or more as needed
• Ability to perform tasks involving bending, kneeling, and reaching
• Ability to work in outdoor environments, including exposure to weather, noise, dust, and odors

Education Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required

Education Preferences

• Additional training or certifications related to equipment operation or safety
