The Sound Designer position is a collaborative, dynamic, and student-centered position that professionally serves the East Carolina University School of Theatre and Dance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
80% Production Responsibilities
Serve as a Sound Designer and Sound Technician for SOTD productions,
including the ECU/Loessin Playhouse and student performances.
20% Teaching Responsibilities
Teach Sound Design courses to Design and Production Majors and Minors.
This position is imperative to support our rigorous academic training for our Dance and Theatre students and presenting professional-level productions to the ECU community and greater Eastern North Carolina region through our ECU/Loessin Playhouse Series. This position serves the role of the Sound Design and Sound Technician for our unit and provides a required instructional component for the School of Theatre and Dance.
Minimum Education/Experience
Master of Fine Arts degree in Sound Design is required.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Preferred experience in shop organization and people management, ability to read music, experience in musical composition, experience with Dante networking software, ability to hang and focus lighting fixtures, skills in videography, and live streaming performance events.
