Description:

Ascentec Engineering is seeking a talented Sourcing Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be instrumental in supporting daily operations, capital projects, and new product introductions (NPI) by developing and executing sourcing strategies that enhance supplier performance, reduce costs, and ensure a reliable supply chain. You will lead supplier development initiatives, manage commercial negotiations, and work closely with cross-functional global teams to drive excellence in cost, quality, and delivery.

This position is well-suited for a candidate with a strong background in supply chain management, manufacturing sourcing, manufacturing engineering, and supplier quality—someone who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

This position is onsite (not remote/not hybrid) at our Tualatin, Oregon headquarters and is not eligible for Visa sponsorship or transfer of Visa sponsorship.

Requirements:
  • Lead and manage sourcing initiatives that support operations, engineering, and NPI programs, ensuring clear progress reporting and strong cross-functional alignment.
  • Develop and execute commodity and sourcing strategies that reduce total cost, improve quality, and mitigate risk through activities such as value engineering, supplier rationalization, price analysis, and make-vs-buy evaluations.
  • Identify, assess, and qualify new suppliers through supplier audits, process audits, PPAP, and other qualification activities to ensure technical capability and adherence to quality standards.
  • Provide sourcing, supply engineering, and project management support for new product development, cost-reduction efforts, and localization projects in partnership with global and local teams.
  • Ensure suppliers consistently meet Ascentec’s expectations for quality, on-time delivery (OTD), and cost performance; drive corrective actions and continuous improvement when required.
  • Negotiate and manage supplier contracts, MSAs, and commercial terms in alignment with internal sourcing and legal policies.
  • Lead cost-reduction initiatives using Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), value analysis, and value engineering (VA/VE) methodologies.
  • Monitor supply chain risks and resiliency, developing mitigation strategies for capacity constraints, geopolitical issues, tariffs, and other disruptions.
  • Leverage ERP/MRP systems to maintain accurate supplier data, manage purchasing workflows, and ensure reliable reporting.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management within a manufacturing or capital equipment environment.
  • Demonstrated success in strategic and global sourcing, supplier development, and collaborating across cross-functional teams within a multinational organization.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes for metal, plastic, mechanical, and electrical components.
  • Solid knowledge of cost analysis, value engineering, and risk management best practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel.
  • PMP or IACCM certification preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Deep understanding of MRP systems, BOM structures, and production supply chain logistics.
  • Proven ability to negotiate effectively, conduct detailed cost analysis, and cultivate strong supplier partnerships.
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills, with a disciplined, data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Ability to balance assertiveness with collaborative teamwork across diverse functional groups.
  • Strong customer focus and results-driven mindset, with a commitment to sustaining long-term supplier performance.

Compensation/Benefits:

  • $90,000 to $110,000 annual salary DOE
