As a key leader within our culinary team, the Sous Chef oversees the daily operations of a signature dining venue at the resort. This hands-on role combines artistry and leadership, ensuring that every dish reflects the highest standards of quality, safety, and presentation. The Sous Chef is responsible for maintaining exceptional food cost control, managing procurement and inventory, and driving menu innovation with enticing specials and creative offerings. With a focus on training, mentoring, and inspiring the culinary team, this position plays a pivotal role in delivering unforgettable dining experiences for our guests.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee all aspects of back-of-house operations, from training and performance evaluations to daily supervision of culinary staff.

  • Recruit, motivate, and empower team members, fostering a culture of growth, creativity, and excellence.

  • Ensure schedules are thoughtfully created to balance labor costs with optimal service coverage.

  • Manage monthly inventories, receiving, and storage practices in line with purchasing standards.

  • Monitor and reduce waste while upholding sanitation, safety, and food handling protocols.

  • Maintain consistency in flavor, portioning, and presentation to exceed guest expectations.

  • Guide staff in proper cooking techniques, portion control, and nutrient preservation.

  • Uphold cleanliness through structured cleaning schedules and proper labeling and dating procedures.

  • Conduct daily quality checks in staff dining areas to ensure exceptional standards are met.

  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of kitchen equipment, coordinating service when necessary.

  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef on seasonal menu development and daily culinary features.

  • Carry out additional duties as needed to ensure smooth kitchen operations.

Job Requirements:

  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and decision-making skills.

  • Strong time management with the ability to thrive under pressure and meet deadlines.

  • Adaptable, forward-thinking, and capable of handling change with confidence.

  • Composed problem-solver with the ability to lead during high-volume service periods.

Education & Experience

  • 2–3 years of kitchen management experience required.

  • Culinary Certification highly preferred.
