Space Planning Senior Specialist ()

Job Description

Responsible for the execution of the space strategic tactics on level of macrospace planning (determining layout and division zones in each location) and microspace planning (making and maintaining display guidelines and/or planogram) to achieve the entire financial objectives and act as a focal point with relevant stakeholders - commercial, supply chain, store design, VM and operation - for KSA and UAE stores. He/She will participate cross functionally in inventory budget control and optimization as well as be responsible for revenue generation through participation with the contract team to reflect the contract commitments.

Accountabilities Macro space planning in KSA, UAE stores
  • Execute macro space planning strategy (macro, miso, micro level) by defining action plans, setting priorities, and measuring outcomes to ensure successful execution according to KPIs.
  • Responsible for space planning database (store layout, fixture, product 등) by defining administration processes and ensuring ongoing updates.
  • Execute the space management automation plan through:
    • Create and reflect all layouts and CATMAPs to the system.
    • Comply with the category hierarchy and fixture naming guidelines.
    • Comply with the training agenda.
    • Train the store crew and VM specialists for the implementation process.
  • Responsible for creation and submission of CATMAPs for all assigned stores.
  • Participate in new opening projects by providing store design, network, commercial and VM teams with approved CATMAP and layout.
  • Ensure delivery of all floor plans in line with blueprint principles to time and quality using different floor planning applications.
  • Ensure all relevant market, space and customer insights are integrated into floor plans.
  • Conduct analysis and reports related to space planning (e.g., planogram productivity per segment/category/store, space productivity per store) by collating and processing related data to monitor performance.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities, maximize return on space for all stores on new and revised stores, and support other functions (e.g., category management, store operations).
  • Monitor compliance with space planning guidelines by conducting regular store visits and meetings with key stakeholders (e.g., Retail Operations team) to ensure successful implementation.
  • Serve as subject matter expertise for reviewing store space queries.
  • Take responsibility to assure that the following activities are reflected:
    • Seeding of new SKUs to make minor or major changes in layout and/or CATMAPs of relevant stores.
    • Deranging of items and/or brands to make minor or major changes in layout and/or CATMAPs of relevant stores.
    • Expansion of items and/or brands to make minor or major changes in layout and/or CATMAPs of relevant stores.
    • Special clearance and promo projects to make minor or major changes in layout and/or CATMAPs of relevant stores.
  • Lead relevant field team in determining the capacity and unit type of secondary display in each store (floor stand, counter stand, end cap, etc.) and balancing between guest experience and other revenue generated from space renting. Highlight free endcaps (to be managed by store crew) and promo endcaps in the CATMAP.
Micro space planning in KSA & UAE stores
  • Responsible for creation and revision of planograms (e.g., multi size, master planogram, individual planogram) by considering a multitude of factors (category strategy, tactics, KPIs, category cycle plan) to enhance in store shopping experience and increase sales and profit at category and item level.
  • Lead relevant resources using relevant systems or manual methods during crafting display guidelines for display categories (master planogram) or specific planograms per store; these guidelines must align with the commercial team's strategy.
  • Produce space planning supporting documentation by creating guidelines and manuals (display guidelines, planogram manual) for Store Operations, Field Merchandising teams, etc.
  • Communicate directly with category managers advising on display solutions (gondola or wall units, number of display faces, item flow) to ensure optimal space utilization of prioritized brands and SKUs.
  • Communicate with all relevant stakeholders about changes in display guidelines or planogram (e.g., increasing or decreasing space of certain brands/items).
  • Participate in new opening projects by providing store design team and VM team with planogram per store for each new store.
  • Execute periodic review of display guidelines and planogram based on inputs (e.g., number of display faces, brand flow).
  • Audit the planogram execution compliance from visual merchandise and store team.
  • Take responsibility to assure that the following activities are reflected:
    • Seeding of new SKUs to make minor or major changes in layout and/or CATMAPs of relevant stores.
    • Deranging of items and/or brands to make minor or major changes in the planogram of relevant category/store.
    • Expansion of items and/or brands to make minor or major changes in the planogram of relevant category/store.
    • Special clearance and promo projects to make minor or major changes in the planogram of relevant category/store.
Assortment Planning and Optimization Process
  • Recommend and define MDQ (minimum display quantities) to maintain inventory level at the approved budget and keep shelf presence.
  • Conduct assortment gap analysis for merchandise planning team based on available space for each category and category performance.
  • Participate with contract team to ensure all supplier contract commitments are executed to improve revenue generation and gross profit.

Employee duties are not limited only to the above mentioned accountabilities; he/she may perform other duties as assigned.
