Life Skills Paraprofessional at Whittier Elementary School - .875 FTE-35 hours/week

Salary Grade Special Education Para D: $21.90 - $23.27/hr. DOE or current placement on salary schedule. Benefits Available.

Description:

This position is a part of a team of staff working primarily in a self-contained setting with additional support provided in inclusion and general education classrooms. The aide will collaborate closely with the supervising teacher as well as with the general education teachers in support of student success. Responsibilities will include tutoring and supervision of students at all grade levels in a variety of settings within the school. Life Skills Paraprofessionals may also provide feeding, toileting, changing and behavior support for students requiring these services.

Qualifications:

Previous experience of working with students, particularly students with learning challenges, is preferred. Valuable attributes include patience, flexibility, initiative, problem-solving, creativity, and a student-centered mindset. Strong communication skills are very valuable. High School Diploma or GED; 2 Years of post secondary education, or Associates Degree.

Working Conditions:

The position is working closely with students individually or in small groups within a self-contained classroom and throughout the elementary school in general education settings.
