EMIT Learning is seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher to work on our school campus in San Jose, CA for the upcoming school year 2025-26.

End date: June 2026 (Possible extension)
Total hours: 35 - 40 hours per week (will include 30-minute unpaid lunch)
Required License/Certification: Mild/Mod or Mod/Sev
Duties
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student.
- Utilize effective classroom management strategies to create a positive learning environment.
- Design and adapt curriculum materials for students with varying abilities, including those with autism and developmental disabilities.
- Conduct assessments and standardized testing to evaluate student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
- Provide speech therapy, behavioral therapy, and early intervention services as needed.
- Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and other professionals to support student development and address any concerns.
- Plan engaging lessons that incorporate literacy education, math, physical education, and other subjects while utilizing learning technology.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, behavior management strategies, and communication logs.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in special education.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education.
- Experience working with children in various settings such as daycare, preschool, or private schools is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of childhood development principles and behavior management techniques.
- Proficiency in lesson planning and curriculum development tailored for special education settings.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Familiarity with Montessori methods or early childhood education practices is a plus.
