EMIT Learning is seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher to work on our school campus in San Jose, CA for the current school year 2025-26.

Job Description for Special Education Teacher

No. of positions: 2

  • SET needed in San Jose, CA
  • Age group/caseload : TK-8
  • Start: ASAP
  • End date: June 2026 (Possible extension)
  • Total hours: 35 - 40 hours per week (will include 30-minute unpaid lunch)
  • Required License/Certification: Mild/Mod Or Mod/Sev

Duties

  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student.
  • Utilize effective classroom management strategies to create a positive learning environment.
  • Design and adapt curriculum materials for students with varying abilities, including those with autism and developmental disabilities.
  • Conduct assessments and standardized testing to evaluate student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
  • Provide speech therapy, behavioral therapy, and early intervention services as needed.
  • Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and other professionals to support student development and address any concerns.
  • Plan engaging lessons that incorporate literacy education, math, physical education, and other subjects while utilizing learning technology, etc.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Valid teaching certification in Special Education.
  • Experience working with children in various settings such as daycare, preschool, or private schools is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of childhood development principles and behavior management techniques.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $55.00 - $65.00 per hour
