Join the New England Center for Children (NECC) in Southborough, MA!

At NECC, you will combine your love for teaching with practical training to change the lives of individuals with autism. In this role, you will work collaboratively to teach children, adolescents, and young adults in the areas of academic, socialization, self-control, ADLs, communication, and job skills. You also can work with students with mild to severe disabilities and assist with the educational program design, participate in the Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) development, and have regular communication with parents and guardians.

Special Education Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Instruct students in general curriculum areas, as well as life and social skills.
  • Collaborate with specialists, other teachers, and aides.
  • Design and implement steps of students’ IEPs.
  • Teach as part of a team of professionals in a year-round day program to maximize students’ skills and independence.
  • Implement educational programs and behavior management guidelines in 1:1 and in a small group format.
  • Utilize behavior analytic teaching procedures across classroom and community settings.
  • Diligent implementation of all medical, safety, and emergency procedures.

Special Education Teacher Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Massachusetts Licensure in Severe Disabilities preferred
  • Proficiency in the application of the principles of ABA and supervisory experience are highly desirable.
  • Red Cross CPR certification (child, adult, and AED) or CPR completion with NECC training team
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Personal vehicle required.
  • Exceptional communication skills, interpersonal skills, and proven leadership ability are a must for this position.
