North Clay CUSD #25 is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate full-time Special Education Teacher to join our team for the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities, ensuring they have equitable access to the general education curriculum and achieve their individualized education program (IEP) goals. This position requires strong collaboration with general education teachers, parents, and support staff to create a comprehensive and effective educational experience for students with diverse learning needs.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities based on their unique needs, strengths, and goals, in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Provide direct specialized instruction to students with disabilities in various settings (e.g., pull-out, push-in, co-teaching) using evidence-based strategies and differentiated instruction.
- Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress, analyze data, and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
- Collaborate effectively with general education teachers to modify curriculum, adapt instructional materials, and implement accommodations to support students with disabilities in inclusive settings.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress, IEP development, and educational planning.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, including IEP meetings, to discuss student needs, progress, and services.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records in accordance with district policies and legal requirements.
- Implement positive behavior intervention strategies and support students in developing self-regulation and social skills.
- Stay current with best practices in special education, relevant laws, and educational research.
- Supervise and direct the work of paraprofessionals or teaching assistants as assigned.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and district initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal or Director of Special Education.
Qualifications
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an endorsement in Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) or equivalent.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Previous experience working with students with diverse disabilities preferred (but not required).
- Knowledge of state and federal special education laws and regulations (IDEA, ISBE rules).
- Strong understanding of various instructional strategies and assistive technologies for students with disabilities.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment for all students.
Salary/Benefits
NCCUSD#25 Salary and Benefits is based upon the Collective Bargaining Agreement
- Salary range of $42,411 to $78,660, dependent upon years of experience and education.
- Above salary range includes TRS contribution of 9%.
