Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment for students with diverse needs, including those with developmental disabilities. This role involves creating tailored educational experiences that promote academic and social growth while ensuring compliance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

Duties

  • Develop and implement individualized lesson plans that cater to the unique learning styles and needs of students with special education requirements.
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and support staff to create and maintain effective IEPs, ensuring that each student’s goals are met.
  • Manage classroom behavior through positive reinforcement strategies and behavioral therapy techniques.
  • Assess student progress regularly and adjust teaching methods accordingly to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Provide support in developing social skills and emotional regulation for students in the classroom setting.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress, including documentation required for IEP meetings.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education and childhood development.

Skills

  • Proficient in special education practices, including curriculum development tailored for diverse learners.
  • Strong classroom management skills to create a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Experience working with students who have developmental disabilities, ensuring their educational needs are met effectively.
  • Knowledge of IEP processes and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Familiarity with behavioral therapy techniques that support student engagement and learning.
  • Excellent lesson planning capabilities that align with state standards while addressing individual student needs.
  • Understanding of childhood development principles to foster a supportive educational atmosphere.
  • Previous experience in a private school setting is a plus but not required.
