Special Education Teacher

Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to inspire and support students with diverse learning needs. In this role, you will develop and implement tailored educational plans that foster growth, independence, and confidence among students with disabilities. Your energetic approach will create an engaging classroom environment where every child feels valued, supported, and motivated to reach their full potential. You will collaborate closely with families, therapists, and school staff to ensure comprehensive support for each student’s unique journey.

Duties

  • Design and deliver individualized lesson plans aligned with students’ IEP (Individualized Education Program) goals, focusing on literacy, math, communication skills, and behavioral health.
  • Implement innovative curriculum development strategies that accommodate various learning styles, including Montessori and preschool methodologies.
  • Conduct assessments using standardized testing tools to monitor progress and adjust instructional approaches accordingly.
  • Provide speech therapy, behavioral therapy, and other specialized interventions to enhance communication and social skills.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively through positive behavior management techniques, creating a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with speech therapists, behavioral health specialists, and other professionals to support early intervention and developmental milestones.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of student progress, IEP updates, and behavioral reports while ensuring compliance with educational standards.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development in areas such as deaf education, working with individuals with autism or disabilities, literacy education, tutoring, mentoring, and library services to enhance teaching effectiveness.

Experience

  • Prior classroom experience working with children in special education settings is essential; experience in private schools or Montessori environments is a plus.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing tailored curricula for students with developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs.
  • Proven ability to manage classrooms effectively while fostering a nurturing atmosphere conducive to learning and growth.
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with families, colleagues, and external specialists to support student success.
  • Knowledge of early childhood education principles, childhood development stages, and early intervention strategies.
  • Experience utilizing behavioral management techniques and conducting speech therapy or tutoring sessions is highly desirable.

Pay: $36.63 - $44.12 per hour
