We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment for students with diverse needs. This role involves developing tailored educational programs, implementing effective teaching strategies, and collaborating with families and support staff to ensure each student's success.
Duties
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Create engaging lesson plans that accommodate various learning styles and abilities, focusing on literacy education, math, and other core subjects.
- Utilize effective classroom management techniques to maintain a positive learning environment.
- Provide specialized instruction in areas such as speech therapy, behavioral therapy, and early intervention strategies.
- Monitor student progress through standardized testing and assessments, adjusting teaching methods as necessary.
- Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and other educators to support students' educational goals and personal development.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and behavior while ensuring confidentiality.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education and childhood development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education.
- Experience working with students with autism, developmental disabilities, or other special needs is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, families, and colleagues.
- Proven ability in curriculum development and lesson planning tailored to individual student needs.
- Familiarity with classroom experience in early childhood education settings such as Montessori or preschool is a plus.
- Knowledge of behavioral health principles and behavior management strategies.
- Experience in tutoring or mentoring students is beneficial.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment while demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
