Special Education Teacher (Moderate/Severe)

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment for students with diverse needs. This role involves developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique abilities and challenges. The Special Education Teacher will work collaboratively with parents, staff, and specialists to ensure that all students receive the support they need to thrive academically and socially.

Duties

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
  • Utilize effective classroom management techniques to create a positive learning environment.
  • Design and adapt curriculum materials to meet the diverse needs of students, including literacy education, math, and behavioral health strategies.
  • Provide instruction in various subjects while incorporating speech therapy techniques as needed.
  • Conduct assessments and standardized testing to monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly.
  • Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and other professionals to support student development in areas such as early intervention, childhood development, and behavioral therapy.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress towards IEP goals.
  • Foster an inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages participation from all students, including those with autism and developmental disabilities.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities related to special education practices, including mentoring and tutoring strategies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Valid teaching certification in Special Education.
  • Experience working with children in an educational setting is essential; private school experience or Montessori training is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Proven ability in lesson planning, curriculum development, and classroom management.
  • Familiarity with early childhood education principles and practices is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of behavioral management techniques and experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred.
  • Ability to provide support in areas such as library services or tutoring as needed.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $55.00 - $60.00 per hour
