Special Education Teacher (SET)

EMIT Learning is seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher to work on our school campus in Mission Viejo, CA, for the upcoming 2025-26 school year.

Job Description for Special Education Teacher

• SETs needed in Mission Viejo, CA
• Age Group: All
• Start: ASAP
• End date: June 2026 (Possible extension)
• Total hours: 35 - 40 hours per week (will include 30-minute unpaid lunch)
• Required License/Certification: Mild/Mod or Mod/Sev

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs.
• Plan and deliver engaging lessons in literacy, math, and other subjects while adapting materials for various learning styles.
• Utilize effective classroom management strategies to maintain a positive learning environment.
• Conduct assessments and standardized testing to monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed.
• Collaborate with parents, teachers, and support staff to ensure comprehensive support for students.
• Provide tutoring and mentoring to students to enhance their academic skills and confidence.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field; certification in special education is preferred.
• Experience working with children with disabilities, including autism spectrum disorders and developmental disabilities.
• Strong knowledge of childhood development principles and early intervention strategies.
• Familiarity with IEP processes and experience in classroom experience or childcare settings is essential.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $50.00 - $60.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
