Specialist – Business Continuity & Process Improvement

The Specialist Business Continuity is responsible for ensuring the organization’s resilience by developing, implementing, maintaining, and testing business continuity and disaster recovery plans. This role supports risk mitigation by coordinating preparedness activities across departments, aligning practices with industry standards, and ensuring minimal disruption during crises or operational interruptions.

  • Develop, implement, maintain, and periodically update the organization's Business Continuity Management (BCM) strategy, framework, and governance structure.
  • Draft, review, and update Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery policies and procedures in alignment with international standards such as ISO 22301, NFPA 1600, and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct and periodically update Business Impact Analyses (BIA) across departments to identify critical business functions, dependencies, Recovery Time Objectives (RTO), and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO).
  • Identify and document operational dependencies, inter-departmental linkages, and potential failure points across business processes.
  • Develop, maintain, and periodically review corporate-level and departmental Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans.
  • Ensure continuity plans are practical, well documented, accessible, and periodically reviewed and tested.
  • Maintain crisis communication protocols, emergency contact trees, and escalation frameworks to support effective incident response.
  • Support crisis response teams during emergencies, incidents, or operational disruptions.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders including IT, Facilities, Human Capital, Security, and other critical departments to ensure alignment and coordination of continuity efforts.
  • Prepare periodic management reports on BCM readiness, risks, gaps, testing outcomes, and improvement plans.
  • Support enterprise risk assessments with a focus on operational resilience, business continuity risks, and disruption scenarios.
  • Identify potential threats to business operations and recommend mitigation and risk reduction strategies.

  • Design, coordinate, and lead periodic Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery simulation exercises, including tabletop exercises and IT disaster recovery testing.
  • Organize and deliver training sessions and awareness programs to ensure employees understand their roles and responsibilities in continuity plans.
  • Document test results, lessons learned, and improvement recommendations, and monitor the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Organize and facilitate Business Process Improvement workshops to support the identification, documentation, and optimization of key organizational processes.
  • Analyze existing processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support departments in implementing process enhancements and operational improvements, and monitor the effectiveness of implemented changes.
  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of departmental policies, procedures, manuals, and process documentation to identify gaps, inconsistencies, or non-compliance issues.
  • Recommend improvements aligned with organizational standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Support compliance and governance activities by ensuring adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of internal audits.
  • Collect and organize audit evidence, documentation, and supporting materials.
  • Track audit findings, recommendations, and corrective action plans, and follow up with departments to ensure timely closure.
  • Support the implementation, configuration, and continuous improvement of the organization’s Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) system.
  • Facilitate system adoption across departments and ensure accurate data entry and reporting.
  • Drive automation and digital transformation initiatives that streamline governance and risk management workflows.
  • Promote technology-enabled governance practices to improve efficiency, strengthen accountability, and enable real-time monitoring and reporting.
  • Support the use of data-driven insights to enhance risk management and decision-making processes.
  • Prepare periodic reports, dashboards, and presentations on BCM readiness, operational risks, audit status, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor implementation of improvement initiatives and track progress against agreed action plans.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, resilience, and operational excellence across the organization.
  • Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Line Manager or Management, in line with organizational priorities and business requirements.
