Specialist I - Purchasing & Auxiliary Services

The Specialist I position for the Purchasing Office performs a variety of administrative and purchasing-related tasks, in high volumes, within predefined timelines. Tasks include, calendaring/scheduling, electronic and phone communications with campus units and external vendors/contractors, purchase order processing for the entire campus, campus asset maintenance, assisting with campus inventory functions, new vendor creation in campus systems, creating blanket purchase orders and tracking associated purchases, requisitioning for all areas and accounts reporting to the Director of Purchasing & Auxiliary Services. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential to this position.

Required Qualifications

• Associate’s degree from an accredited institution or 3-5 years of experience in an office setting.

Essential Functions & Position Duties

• Performs basic receptionist duties (answering phones, greeting visitors, directing calls, etc.)
• Maintains files (both electronic and hard copy)
• Data entry
• Maintains confidential and sensitive information
• Processes requisitions
• Works with budgets
• Coordinates and attends meetings as appropriate; prepares and distributes minutes
• Interface with college-restricted software systems
• Supervisory duties (Student Workers)
• Manipulates data in college-restricted software systems

Non-essential functions of the position

• Other duties as assigned. Duties must be performed on the John A. Logan College campus or designated location.

Hours: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday
