Job Title - Specialist Interventional Radiologist

Department - Radiology / Medical Imaging

Reports To - Head of Radiology / Medical Director

Job Summary

The Specialist Interventional Radiologist is responsible for performing minimally invasive, image-guided diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The role requires close collaboration with multidisciplinary clinical teams to provide high-quality, patient-centered care while maintaining the highest standards of safety, ethics, and clinical excellence.

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Duties

  • Perform a wide range of interventional radiology procedures, including vascular and non-vascular interventions.
  • Conduct image-guided diagnostic and therapeutic procedures using fluoroscopy, ultrasound, CT, and MRI.
  • Evaluate patients pre- and post-procedure, including obtaining informed consent and managing follow-up care.
  • Provide emergency interventional radiology services as required, including on-call duties.
  • Ensure accurate reporting and documentation of procedures and findings.

Patient Care & Safety

  • Ensure patient safety, comfort, and confidentiality at all times.
  • Adhere to radiation safety standards and infection control protocols.
  • Manage procedural complications and provide appropriate clinical interventions.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with referring physicians, surgeons, and other specialists to plan and execute patient care.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, case discussions, and clinical audits.
  • Provide consultation services to other departments as needed.

Teaching & Professional Development

  • Participate in teaching and training of residents, fellows, radiographers, and nursing staff (if applicable).
  • Engage in continuous professional development, research, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Stay current with advancements in interventional radiology techniques and technologies.

Administrative & Quality Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate medical records in accordance with hospital policies and legal requirements.
  • Contribute to departmental quality assurance and accreditation activities.
  • Assist in developing and updating clinical protocols and guidelines.

Qualifications & ExperienceEducation & Certification

  • Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent).
  • Board certification or equivalent qualification in Radiology.
  • Fellowship training in Interventional Radiology.
  • Valid medical license/registration to practice (as per local regulatory authority).

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of post-fellowship experience in interventional radiology (preferred).
