Specialist Lifting Operation Engineer - Fabrication Yard (Offshore Topside Project) for an Offshore project based in Abu Dhabi (Office / Fabrication Yard).

Job Summary

The Specialist Lifting Operation Engineer is responsible for the planning, execution, and oversight of complex lifting operations across industrial and offshore environments. This role ensures that all lifting activities are performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with international standards and project specifications.

Requirements

Minimum 17+ years of experience in the Oil and Gas industry. Strong experience in EPC / Detailed Engineering projects in the Oil & Gas industry. 5+ years of experience in lifting operations within industrial or offshore sectors. Strong understanding of lifting equipment, rigging techniques, and structural mechanics. At least 5 years of experience in a similar position for mega oil and gas FEED / EPC projects (more than US$ 1 Billion). Strong knowledge of international maritime regulations and offshore safety standards. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is a MUST.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lifting Plan Development
    • Design and validate detailed lifting plans for critical and non-routine lifts.
    • Select appropriate lifting equipment and rigging gear based on load characteristics and site conditions.
    • Perform load calculations, center of gravity analysis, and stability assessments.
  • Technical Oversight
    • Conduct site surveys to assess lifting feasibility and constraints.
    • Provide engineering support during heavy lift operations, including crane positioning and load path analysis.
    • Review and approve method statements and risk assessments.
  • Safety & Compliance
    • Ensure all lifting operations comply with relevant standards (e.g., LOLER, ASME B30, BS EN).
    • Lead toolbox talks and safety briefings for lifting crews.
    • Investigate lifting incidents and implement corrective actions.
