Specialist Safety

Job Purpose

Drive, implement, and continuously improve health, safety, and fire protection systems at the plant while ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and company standards. The role strengthens safety culture through risk assessments, audits, training, and employee engagement, and leads initiatives such as Behavior‑Based Safety, Process Safety Management, and ISO 45001. It ensures safe equipment operations, emergency preparedness, and proactive hazard control to protect employees, contractors, visitors, and the environment, enabling sustainable, incident‑free plant operations.

Business Responsibility Areas

Safety Management

  • Review and update safety policies; monitor performance against HSE goals.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory regulations and the Asian Paints Safety Manual.
  • Conduct periodic risk assessments, audits, and inspections; implement corrective actions.
  • Define safety roles and responsibilities across the plant.
  • Lead safety communication, induction, and ongoing training for employees and contractors.
  • Promote employee consultation and enforce safety rules and discipline.
  • Implement British Safety Council Five Star Audit, ISO 45001, BBS, and PSM programs.
  • Conduct safety meetings and close action points.
  • Maintain all safety equipment and drive road‑safety initiatives.

Engineering Safety

  • Ensure safe operation of machinery and equipment; enforce the work‑permit system.
  • Provide access equipment for work at height/confined spaces.
  • Maintain MSDS for all chemicals and train employees.
  • Control exposure to hazardous substances and ensure ergonomic practices.
  • Implement procedures for inspection, maintenance, and safe operation of mobile equipment.
  • Ensure proper selection and use of PPE.
  • Apply HAZOP and HIRA methodologies.

Fire Control Systems

  • Identify fire hazards and implement control measures.
  • Maintain documented fire‑evacuation and emergency‑response procedures.
  • Establish systems for effective emergency management.

Measurement Control Systems

  • Maintain incident reporting systems for all unplanned events.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses; implement preventive actions.
  • Track and report safety performance metrics.

Workplace Implementation

  • Ensure adequate safety signage for hazards, prohibited areas, and required actions.
  • Maintain labeling and flow‑direction identification for substances in pipes and vessels.

Qualifications

Experience

  • Minimum 10+ years in Industrial Safety
