Job Description

ECCO Gulf Majorel Qatar is seeking an experienced Spectrum Monitoring Engineer to join our dynamic team in Doha, Qatar. As a Spectrum Monitoring Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and effective use of the radio frequency spectrum. Your expertise will contribute to maintaining the integrity and performance of our communication systems.

  • Operate the mobile or fixed monitoring stations, as assigned, in order to carry out monitoring requirements effectively and in accordance to best practices and standards.
  • Support and advice the Spectrum Monitoring-Coordinators in carrying out monitoring activities, as required.
  • Identify source/type of interference, spill over, etc. and check compliance with technical parameters and provide recommendations for eliminating harmful interferences.
  • Collaborate with frequency users in order to identify any spectrum infringements and inform the Spectrum Operations-Senior Engineer as required.
  • Compile and analyse data and information upon completion of monitoring investigations and share with Spectrum Operations-Senior Engineer in order to determine if there are cases of breaching compliance to licensing conditions.
  • Develop and maintain a reference database of monitored frequencies.
  • Identify any maintenance requirements for the mobile or fixed stations and follow up with Spectrum Operations-Senior Engineer in order to ensure operational readiness.
  • Provide the Spectrum Operations-Senior Engineer with regular updates of monitoring activities, issues identified, band efficiency, radiation patterns and others, as required.
  • Stay up to date with international recommendations, standards and trends related to spectrum monitoring.

Required Profile

We are looking for a candidate with a strong technical background and professional experience in spectrum monitoring. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience, preferably in a regulatory entity.

  • Proven experience in spectrum monitoring or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of radio frequency principles and spectrum management.
  • Proficiency in using spectrum analysers and other relevant tools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
