Summary

We are seeking dedicated Physical, Speech, and Occupational Therapists to contract with our Agency in providing exceptional care to individuals with developmental delays and disabilities. Located in a supportive environment, this role is vital in helping our clients achieve their goals and enhance their quality of life.

Scope of Contractor’s Services:

The New Mexico Family Infant Toddler (FIT) Program uses a transdisciplinary team approach when possible. That means if more than one provider is working with a child and family, those professionals work together to support the child and family. They conduct co-visits and talk with each other in-between visits to discuss ways to work with the family to support the child’s overall development. That includes cross-disciplinary sharing of information and training. All teams are led by a Family Service Coordinator. Team members may include a Developmental Specialist, Speech-language therapist, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, Dietician and/or a Family Support Specialist.

Services are based on the following eight key principles:

  • Infants and toddlers learn best through everyday experiences and interactions with familiar people in familiar contexts.
  • All families, with the necessary support and resources, can enhance their children’s learning and development.
  • The primary role of a service provider in early intervention is to work with and support family members and caregivers in children’s lives.
  • The early intervention process, from initial contacts through transition, must be dynamic and individualized to reflect the child’s and family members’ preferences, learning styles, and cultural beliefs.
  • Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) outcomes must be functional and based on children’s and families’ needs and family-identified priorities.
  • The family’s priorities, needs, and interests are addressed most appropriately by a primary provider who represents and receives team and community support.
  • Interventions with young children and family members must be based on explicit principles, validated practices, best available research, and relevant laws and regulations.
  • Support for families in developing strategies to understand, interpret and nurture their child’s development is best achieved through the use of reflective practices.
  • Professional Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Unquestioned integrity required.
  • Independent and Responsible.
  • Flexible.
  • Outstanding interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Desire to work with children in a home or daycare setting.
  • Experience working with young children and families preferred.
  • Compliant with all applicable New Mexico Public Health Order requirements.
  • Computer experience, knowledge of or demonstrated ability to use Word, Excel, and other computer programs, as needed.
  • Comply with state directives regarding health and safety practices and expectations when appropriate, including, mask wearing, social distancing, etc.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred but not required.
  • Valid NM driver’s license, reliable transportation with current automobile liability policy (bodily injury liability minimum must be $100,000/300,000 and 100,000 property) with continuous coverage.
  • Clearing a criminal background check required.
  • Current Professional Liability Insurance.
