Sports Information Director

TCA is looking for a Sports Information Director. This position is responsible for helping advance the mission and community engagement of TCA by effectively communicating and coordinating athletic information to our community. You will work closely with coaches, administrators, and student-athletes, to promote our athletic programs in a way that reflects the school’s Christian values, commitment to excellence, and dedication to character development.

General Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all school communications regarding athletics
  • Manage athletic department’s social media accounts, including creating or overseeing the creation of graphics, photos, video and text; posting content regularly; and monitoring or moderating comments and messages
  • Oversee and update TCA athletics website
  • Create and/or contribute to weekly newsletters
  • Responsible for coordinating media days and team pictures for fall, winter and spring athletic teams
  • Oversee timing, production and installation of printed banners for each varsity team sport to ensure they are produced, approved printed and installed in a timely manner
  • Oversee production of programs for varsity sports
  • Gather game and player for publication in different channels
  • Coordinate and/or create graphics for each varsity team for video board at Tom Landry Stadium and MCB Gym
  • Coordinate with coaches on any team social media accounts and provide support or oversight where needed
  • Oversee creation of digital and print materials for each team (such as flyers, videos and social media graphics) to promote special athletic events such as Little Trojan Nights, Middle School Night, Senior Nights, etc.
  • Manage communications timeline for Athletic department
  • Post teams, schedules, scores and news stories o TCA athletics website
  • Write game recaps, season summaries and sports interest stories
  • Compose stories highlighting successes within the Trojan athletic department for publication online or in print
  • Coordinate necessary communication including press releases for introducing new coaches, signing days and other special events
  • Work with graphic designer and/or templated program to create approved graphics to support athletics
  • Work with the Director of Marketing and Communication on all press inquiries and media relations for Trojan Athletics, including approving/rejecting requests for media access and issuing press passes
  • Manage the design and ordering process of all athletic signage that is displayed throughout the school
  • Produce or oversee production of videos for use on social media
  • Gather data, compile information, and prepare reports
  • Assist coaches as needed in communicating effectively through sportsYou app

Education, Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years media relations and/or communications experience
  • Interest in athletics and understanding of multiple sports
  • Working knowledge of social media platforms ( Instagram, Facebook, X)
  • Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications including word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software (Adobe, MSWord, Excel, Access, Teams and PowerPoint)
  • Must have excellent writing skills with the ability to compose and edit sports related articles and information
  • Ability to manage multiple timelines and people/coaches to accomplish strategic goals for the school
  • A high level of interpersonal skills and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Position requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy; the ability to provide customer service with grace is a must
  • Attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands
  • Must be able to discern among competing priorities
  • Photography skills preferred
  • Video production and graphic design skills preferred
  • Experience working in an athletic department, preferably within the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools preferred
  • Agree with and support TCA's Doctrinal, Biblical and Mission Statements and Christian values
  • Have a willing heart for service (Ephesians 6:7)
