Sports Management Intern

Position Summary:

The YMCA Sports Intern will assist in the planning, coordination, and delivery of youth and adult sports programs. The intern will gain hands-on experience in sports management, coaching, event planning, and community engagement. This role is ideal for students pursuing careers in recreation, sports management, education, or related fields.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the setup, operation, and supervision of youth and adult sports leagues, clinics, and camps (e.g., soccer, basketball, flag football, T-ball, volleyball).
  • Field/court setup, equipment organization, and team communication.
  • Serve as a positive role model while coaching and mentoring youth participants.
  • Support registration processes, including data entry and participant communication.
  • Monitor sports facilities to ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.
  • Help create and distribute promotional materials for sports programs (flyers, social media content, etc.).
  • Attend staff meetings and provide feedback on sports program development and improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Sports Director or program supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Sports Management, Recreation, Physical Education, Kinesiology, Youth Development, or a related field.
  • Passion for youth development, sports, and healthy living.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with youth, families, and volunteers from diverse backgrounds.
  • Energetic, organized, and dependable with a strong work ethic.
  • First Aid/CPR certification is a plus (or willingness to obtain).

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move sports equipment (up to 30 lbs).

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • Day shift
  • Evening shift
  • No weekends
