Job Purpose

The Sports Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering structured sports and physical education activities that promote students’ physical fitness, sportsmanship, teamwork, and overall well-being. The role ensures effective implementation of the school’s sports curriculum and active participation of students in internal and external competitions.

Key Responsibilities

A. Teaching & Classroom Management

  • Deliver physical education lessons according to the school curriculum.
  • Teach rules, techniques, and safety guidelines for various sports.
  • Conduct warm-up, exercise, skill drills, and structured games.
  • Manage class discipline, ensuring a safe and respectful environment.
  • Provide individual support to students with varying fitness levels.

B. Sports Coaching & Training

  • Coach students in different sports such as football, cricket, badminton, table tennis, athletics, and others as assigned.
  • Identify and train talented students for school-level, inter-school, and district competitions.
  • Prepare practice schedules and maintain regular training sessions.

C. Event Planning & Coordination

  • Organize and supervise annual sports days, tournaments, and sports weeks.
  • Manage fixtures, scoring, equipment, and logistics for sports events.
  • Coordinate with administration for approvals, budgets, and ground facilities.

D. Student Development & Well-Being

  • Promote physical fitness, healthy habits, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.
  • Encourage participation of all students, including those with low confidence or skills.
  • Provide first aid during sports activities and report injuries promptly.

E. Equipment & Facility Management

  • Inspect and maintain sports equipment and grounds.
  • Ensure safe usage of equipment by students.
  • Maintain inventory and request replenishments as needed.

F. Record Keeping & Reporting

  • Maintain attendance records for each sports class.
  • Track performance, progress, and behavior of students.
  • Prepare reports for competitions and events.
  • Submit weekly/monthly activity updates to the Coordinator/Principal.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education (B.P.Ed) OR relevant sports certification.
  • Coaching certifications (preferred).
  • Experience teaching sports or coaching in a school environment (1–3 years preferred).
