The Sports Teacher is responsible for promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and healthy lifestyles among students. They design and deliver age-appropriate sports and physical education programs that develop students’ physical skills, sportsmanship, and interest in lifelong fitness. The teacher also supports extracurricular sports activities, competitions, and overall student well-being.
Key Responsibilities: Teaching & Instruction
- Plan, organize, and deliver physical education lessons tailored to students’ age and skill levels.
- Introduce students to a variety of sports, games, and fitness activities.
- Teach fundamental movement skills, rules of different sports, and the importance of fair play and teamwork.
- Promote health education, personal fitness, and positive lifestyle choices.
- Adapt activities for students with varying abilities and ensure inclusive participation.
Curriculum & Program Development
- Develop and implement a comprehensive PE curriculum in line with school standards and educational guidelines.
- Incorporate warm-ups, conditioning, and skills-based drills to improve overall fitness.
- Organize and supervise intra-school and inter-school sports events, tournaments, and field days.
- Encourage students to explore individual and team sports to discover their strengths and interests.
Student Support & Safety
- Foster a positive, respectful, and motivating environment for all students.
- Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain safety protocols during all physical activities and ensure proper use of sports equipment.
- Identify and nurture talent for school teams and advanced competitions.
Classroom & Facility Management
- Ensure all sports facilities, fields, and equipment are maintained and safe for use.
- Organize equipment, set up sports areas, and oversee proper storage after use.
- Maintain attendance, grading, and records of student participation and performance.
Collaboration & Communication
- Collaborate with other teachers to integrate health and fitness education across subjects.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress and participation.
- Work with school leadership to plan sports-related events and activities.
- Support extracurricular clubs and after-school sports programs.
