Job Overview:

The SQA Automation & Manual Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, performance, and usability of software products through structured manual testing and scalable automated test solutions. The role requires strong analytical skills, a quality-first mindset, and close collaboration with engineering, product, and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities, include but are not limited to:

Manual Testing

· Analyze business requirements, functional specifications, and technical designs to derive comprehensive test scenarios.

· Design, document, and maintain test cases, test plans, and test data.

· Perform functional, regression, smoke, sanity, integration, and UAT support testing.

· Identify, document, track, and verify defects using tools like Jira.

· Validate fixes and ensure defect leakage is minimized.

· Participate in sprint planning, grooming, and retrospectives from a QA perspective.

Automation Testing

· Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts for web, mobile, and API layers.

· Identify suitable test cases for automation based on ROI and stability.

· Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.

· Maintain test automation frameworks and ensure scalability and reliability.

· Execute automated test suites and analyze results.

· Collaborate with developers to improve testability of the application.

Quality Ownership

· Ensure adherence to QA processes, standards, and best practices.

· Act as a quality gate before releases.

· Proactively identify risks related to quality, performance, and security.

· Support production issues with root cause analysis (RCA) and preventive actions.

Technical Skills

· Strong understanding of SDLC, STLC, and Agile/Scrum methodologies.

· Hands-on experience in manual testing techniques and test design strategies.

· Experience with automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Postman, REST Assured).

· Experience in API testing and backend validation.

· Basic knowledge of databases and SQL queries.

· Familiarity with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.).

Tools & Environment (Indicative)

· Test Management: Jira, TestRail (or similar)

· Automation: Selenium, Cypress, Appium

· API Testing: Postman, Swagger

· CI/CD: GitHub Actions, Jenkins

· Version Control: Git.

Key Performance Indicator:

· Defect Leakage Rate: Maintain production defect leakage at ≤ 5% per release.

· Automation Coverage & Stability: Achieve minimum 70% regression automation coverage with less than 5% flaky tests.

· Requirement & Test Coverage: Ensure 100% requirement traceability with comprehensive test case coverage.

Goals:

· Zero Critical Defects in Production: Deliver high-quality releases with no critical severity issues post-deployment.

· Automation-Driven Efficiency: Reduce manual regression effort by at least 40% through scalable automation.

· Early Quality Involvement (Shift-Left): Identify risks during requirement and sprint planning phases to prevent late-stage defects.
