Key Responsibilities
  • Database Administration & Maintenance
  • Manage, monitor, and maintain multiple SQL Server databases across internal, cloud, and customer-hosted environments.
  • Oversee the health, performance, availability, and security of all database systems.
  • Implement and enforce data security, compliance, and auditing best practices as a core responsibility.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues within a legacy database environment, including query tuning, index optimization, and schema improvements.
  • Implement performance tuning strategies to enhance database responsiveness and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to understand business requirements and translate them into effective database solutions.
  • Work with 3rd party tools (Redgate or similar) to support smooth rollout of database changes and updates in customer environments.
  • Ensure database deployments follow best practices and minimize downtime or disruption.
  • Manage multiple SQL Server instances, ensuring consistency, scalability, and reliability across environments.
  • Establish robust backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Plan and execute database patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management activities to ensure systems remain current and supported.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support application and business needs.
  • Provide technical guidance and support during database-related incidents and escalations.
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for database-related issues and ensure preventive measures are implemented.
  • Document processes, configurations, and best practices for knowledge sharing and operational continuity.


Qualifications & Skills
  • Proven experience as a SQL Server DBA (5+ years preferred).
  • Strong hands-on expertise with SQL Server (2016 and above).
  • Experience managing databases in cloud environments (Azure SQL, AWS RDS, or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of query optimization, indexing strategies, and performance tuning.
  • Familiarity with database migration, legacy system improvement, and modernization projects.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, release management, or 3rd party database deployment tools.
  • Proficient in backup/recovery strategies and high availability/disaster recovery (HA/DR) solutions.
  • Solid knowledge of data security, compliance, and auditing best practices.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into robust database solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a proactive mindset.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with PowerShell or other scripting for automation.
  • Familiarity with other database platforms (MySQL, PostgreSQL, NoSQL).
