The Division of Institutional Effectiveness (IE) provides support and leadership through planning, assessment, data analysis and reporting, performance monitoring and improvement, and project management. The practical and collaborative services drive overall organizational improvements in quality, responsiveness, and efficiency for internal and external stakeholders.
The Sr. Academic Planning Coordinator supports Augusta University's schools and colleges, in collaboration with faculty, staff, and academic affairs leadership, in all stages of the academic program life cycle, including conception, development, launch, maintenance, review and evaluation, and deactivation.
The position plays a key role in planning, developing, and seeking approval for new academic degree programs, maintaining the multi-year forecast of new programs under consideration, and developing, providing, and continually improving processes and tools to support the identification of prospective new programs, the initial articulation of program concepts, and the development of program proposals. Once programs are approved by the Provost, the role ensures completion of the appropriate institutional and Board of Regents procedures for approval and/or finalization.
Through these efforts, the position provides comprehensive support to faculty, staff, and academic leadership, ensuring excellence and alignment across the full academic program portfolio and its continuous improvement over time.
The duties include, but are not limited to:
PROGRAM PLANNING: Assist in analyzing enrollment trends, labor market data, and peer program activity to anticipate future program needs. Prepare summaries and reports to inform academic strategy and resource allocation. Maintain tracking systems to identify emerging opportunities or risks and support leadership in proactive decision-making. Collaborate with institutional research and academic leaders to support institutional priorities. Support program deactivation processes by coordinating required documentation and approvals.
PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT: Assist faculty and departments in preparing new program proposals in accordance with the University System of Georgia and institutional procedures. Coordinate review and feedback processes from oversight committees, institutional leadership, and external partners. Organize program development kickoff meetings and provide administrative support related to budget development, accreditation compliance, and application requirements.
PROGRAM PERFORMANCE MONITORING: Monitor programs to help ensure compliance with the University System of Georgia and institutional policies. Maintain tools and spreadsheets to track program performance against performance metrics. Support the preparation of routine updates and summary reports for leadership, highlighting program progress, challenges, and opportunities. Assist faculty committees with organizing review materials, interpreting results, and developing action plans. Monitor and summarize system-level trends to support academic planning and continuous improvement efforts.
ACCREDITATION SUPPORT: Assist the Institutional Accreditation Liaison and accredited academic programs with accreditation activities, including development of reports to support compliance.
COLLABORATION WITHIN DIVISION AND INSTITUTION: Collaborate within the division and the institution to support ongoing projects and efforts that support the effectiveness of the institution, including the following: Serving as a conduit into Institutional Effectiveness for possible projects, process improvement initiatives, and requests for data or surveys. Working with Institutional Research to identify data and other resources to support the overall academic planning and assessment processes.
OTHER: Perform other duties as assigned.
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in higher education, social behavior sciences, data analytics, business, or a related field OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and eight years of experience in higher education.
Two years of professional experience in coordinating higher education processes. Knowledge of Board of Regents academic policies and procedures. Knowledge of AU academic policies and procedures. Understanding of academic services needed to support academic programs. Basic understanding of academic program curricula. Basic understanding of higher education budgeting and finances. Experience in strategic and annual planning and assessment. Experience in managing small projects and with project management tools/techniques.
KNOWLEDGE
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases
Knowledge and experience in higher education planning and assessment.
Knowledge and experience in student learning outcome assessment.
Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative metrics.
Basic knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research design and measurement techniques.
SKILLS
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including group presentation skills.
Analytical skills.
Strong online research skills.
Facilitation skills to lead small groups in planning and assessment activities.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop effective working relationships with senior leadership, faculty, and staff.

Pay Band: B13
Salary: $68,500/annually
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
