Sr. Accountant - AR

Job Title: Senior Accountant – (Accounts Receivable)

Reports To: Accounts Manager

Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant – Accounts Receivable is responsible for overseeing all accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely collection of outstanding receivables, maintaining accurate customer accounts, supervising the AR team, and supporting the organization's cash flow and financial reporting objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Accounts Receivable Management
  • Oversee the entire accounts receivable cycle, including invoicing, collections, and account reconciliations.
  • Ensure timely issuance of customer invoices and statements.
  • Monitor customer account balances and follow up on overdue payments.
  • Review and approve credit notes, adjustments, and write-offs in accordance with company policies.
  • Team Supervision
  • Lead, supervise, and mentor the Accounts Receivable team.
  • Assign tasks and monitor team performance.
  • Provide training and guidance to ensure compliance with accounting procedures and internal controls.
  • Collection and Credit Control
  • Develop and implement effective collection strategies.
  • Coordinate with customers and internal departments to resolve billing disputes.
  • Monitor customer credit limits and recommend actions to mitigate credit risk.
  • Reconciliation and Reporting
  • Perform monthly reconciliation of receivable accounts and customer ledgers.
  • Prepare aging reports and collection performance reports.
  • Analyse receivable trends and provide recommendations to management.
  • Financial Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain proper documentation and audit trails for all receivable transactions.
  • Assist with internal and external audits.
  • Process Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve receivable processes and controls.
  • Support ERP/accounting system enhancements related to receivables.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CA, CMA, or equivalent) preferred.
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience, with significant exposure to accounts receivable and team supervision.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
