Sr. Accountant - Arabic and English Speaking

Location: Doha, Qatar

Industry: Manufacturing (Diesel Generators)

Reports to: Finance Manager/General Manager

Position Overview:

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing and managing the financial operations of the Diesel Generator Manufacturing company. This includes ensuring accurate financial reporting, managing accounting records, preparing financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and assisting in budgeting and financial analysis. The role requires a strong understanding of both accounting principles and the manufacturing industry to maintain efficient financial management practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements in accordance with local and international accounting standards.
• Analyze financial data, prepare reports, and present insights on financial performance to senior management.
• Monitor and manage the company’s cash flow, ensuring liquidity for operational needs.
• Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, including tax filings, audits, and financial reporting.

General Ledger Management:

• Oversee the management of the general ledger and ensure accurate record-keeping of financial transactions.
• Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Ensure proper classification and allocation of all accounting transactions to appropriate cost centers.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

• Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and forecasts, providing financial projections for the business.
• Monitor actual financial performance against budgeted figures and provide explanations for variances.
• Work closely with other departments (e.g., production, procurement) to ensure budget compliance and highlight potential cost-saving opportunities.

Inventory and Cost Accounting:

• Manage inventory accounts, ensuring accuracy in the costing of raw materials, work in progress (WIP), and finished goods.
• Conduct regular stock and cost audits to ensure that inventory records match physical stock counts.
• Support the pricing strategy for products, considering production costs and market trends.

Internal Controls and Compliance:

• Establish and enforce internal control procedures to safeguard company assets.
• Ensure compliance with tax laws, financial regulations, and auditing standards.
• Coordinate and assist in external and internal audits.

Cash Management:

• Monitor accounts receivable and payable, ensuring timely collections and payments.
• Manage company bank accounts, oversee reconciliations, and optimize cash resources.
• Liaise with banks and financial institutions for transactions and financing requirements.

Team Management and Collaboration:

• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, ensuring continuous training and knowledge sharing.
• Foster a collaborative environment with other departments (such as operations, sales, and procurement) to ensure smooth financial operations.
• Participate in cross-functional projects to improve overall business performance.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional accounting certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) preferred.
• With at least 2-3 years in a senior accounting role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and financial reporting standards.
• Experience with ERP systems and financial software (e.g., Focus).
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (pivot tables, advanced functions).
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be Arabic & English speaking
