Sr. Business Intelligence Developer

Responsibilities:
The Sr. Business Intelligence Developer analyzes, designs, and codes advanced data solutions that support the property and casualty insurance industry, including complex data development, reporting, and business intelligence deliverables.

  • Analyze, design, and code solutions that support the property and casualty insurance industry
• Perform complex data development activities including ETL, cube creation, ad hoc and management reporting
• Build dashboards and data extracts to meet business needs
• Create design specifications that demonstrate understanding of interfacing systems and business data processes and/or structures
• Propose improvements to data processes and/or structures to enhance supportability and usability
• Produce significant new system functionality and implement defect resolutions
• Provide recommendations to ensure proper utilization and efficiency of systems and solutions
• Solve business issues using experience and knowledge of current technology
• Perform peer reviews on system changes and determine how changes impact other systems
• Design and deliver reports, dashboards, datasets, and related applications
• Utilize Microsoft SQL Server, SSRS, and Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services to build solutions
• Identify and troubleshoot complex SQL code
• Utilize BI tools such as Tableau and Power BI
• Clearly and concisely explain tasks and technical processes to non-technical business associates
• Mentor junior team members
• Work in a role that permits up to 20% telecommuting Qualifications:
Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years of experience as a BI developer, database developer, or related role
• Experience with RDBMS and SQL Server
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server stack, including T-SQL, SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS
• Data engineering and BI development experience within the property and casualty insurance industry
• Tableau reporting and administration experience
• Experience designing and delivering reports, dashboards, datasets, and related applications for compliance, financial, and operational insurance reporting within property and casualty insurance
• Ability to identify and troubleshoot complex SQL code
• Ability to clearly explain technical tasks and processes to non-technical business associates
• Experience mentoring junior team members
Education Requirement

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field
Additional Company Details: The base salary range for this position is $133,757 to $149,600 annually. Additional Requirements: Location and Travel: •Primary location Glen Allen, VA. •Remote/hybrid options available (up to 20% telecommuting permitted).
