ExtraMile Convenience Stores LLC is a joint venture owned by Chevron and Jacksons Food Stores. The ExtraMile network is currently made up of more than 1,100 convenience stores in California, Pacific Northwest, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, and the Southeast.
We’re seeking a Senior Creative Copywriter to join our team. In this role, you’ll craft clear, compelling, and brand-aligned copy across channels and formats, while contributing to the development and execution of campaign concepts. In addition to core copywriting responsibilities, this role will support local marketing initiatives by identifying regional growth opportunities and helping drive brand visibility in key markets.
This position is only remote in California.
What will I do as a Senior Creative Copywriter?
- Write engaging short- and mid-form copy for a wide range of creative assets - including headlines, CTAs, scripts, landing pages, blog posts, and more.
- Develop copy for diverse formats such as digital ads, website content, sponsorship assets, activation materials, in-store signage, POP templates, packaging, press releases and more.
- Collaborate with the creative team to develop campaign concepts and ensure cohesive storytelling.
- Ensure copy aligns with brand voice, tone, channel nuances, and strategic marketing objectives.
- Adapt messaging for different audience segments, customer journeys, and regional needs.
- Edit and refine content based on stakeholder feedback.
- Leverage performance data to optimize messaging and creative effectiveness.
- Contribute to the evolution of the brand’s voice across channels.
- Manage and prioritize concurrent projects, timelines and deliverables.
- Support special projects or additional tasks as needed.
Local Site Marketing (Secondary Area of Responsibility)
- Identify local marketing opportunities to drive brand awareness and growth in key regions.
- Collaborate with franchisees and local operations teams to build region-specific strategies aligned with broader marketing objectives.
- Plan and execute community-based marketing initiatives.
- Cultivate partnerships with local organizations, schools, sports teams, or nonprofits.
- Coordinate brand presence at local events including setup, signage, swag, and promotional materials.
- Source and manage vendors for printing, merch and activations as needed.
- Provide toolkits to support franchisees and field team execution.
- Gather local insights to help inform broader marketing strategies.
- Ensure compliance with brand and legal standards.
- Track and report out on local campaign performance and apply learnings to future initiatives.
You’ll be a great fit if you have:- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant fields - Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Advertising
- 5+ years of experience with a strong portfolio of copywriting across multiple platforms and formats
- Strong conceptual and strategic thinking, excellent communication skills, a solid understanding of customer psychology, keen attention to detail, and strong organizational skills
It’s a real plus if you have:- Convenience store, retail or quick service restaurant marketing experience
- Familiarity with local/regional marketing or franchisee collaboration
- A background in cross-functional collaboration with design, marketing, or field teams
- Basic experience with WordPress for copy updates
- Bilingual writing skills (English/Spanish) for multicultural markets
