Responsibilities
The main purpose of the Sr. Engineer – Planning role is to prepare the baseline and tender schedules, oversee schedule updates, monitor project progress, administer schedules to clients/consultants, and assist in delay analysis for EOT (Extension of Time) claims.
- Support the development of KSA national employees across the team to achieve corporate objectives, Saudization targets, and promote knowledge sharing to enhance internal capabilities and performance.
- Conduct all duties with the highest standards of respect, integrity, accountability, agility, quality, safety, and corporate governance.
- Ensure compliance with the company’s Code of Ethics and adoption of corporate values.
- Adopt and utilize company systems and ERP tools effectively.
- Implement instructions, deadlines, methodologies, project execution plans, procedures, procurement plans, and overall project strategies to prepare the baseline schedule.
- Take the lead in preparing tender schedules as requested and ensure that the correct scope of work is reflected in all assigned schedules.
- Integrate inter-discipline schedule requirements and constraints to establish logical work sequences for assigned disciplines or specialties.
- Develop specific work breakdown structures (WBS) and recommend appropriate modifications and revisions for new work items assigned.
- Provide site management with planned manpower requirements.
- Identify and analyze preliminary risks and recommend corrective measures.
- Oversee data inputs related to project execution plans and support development of required plans (constructability, procurement, engineering, construction schedules, budgets, mobilization).
- Ensure budgets, schedules, WBS, and CBS are set up in EPM and EPPM.
- Ensure EPM and EPPM users are selected, trained, and assigned to the project.
- Support project controls resources and activities on site.
- Monitor the performance of equipment, manpower, material deliveries, wastage, and overall project cost control.
- Identify, analyze, and monitor schedule deviations (including subcontractors) and recommend corrective actions or workarounds.
- Prepare action plans and arrange weekly review meetings to follow up on progress.
- Highlight activities at risk of delay, assign ownership of action plans, and identify target completion dates.
- Review project documentation (letters, RFIs, site inspection requests, variation orders, drawings, etc.) to identify documents related to delay events for EOT claims.
- Implement standard methods of delay analysis (as-planned impacted, time impact analysis, etc.) for EOT claim preparation.
- Perform other duties related to the job as assigned by the Planning Department Manager.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a relevant discipline related to project management and/or construction.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant planning experience, including site work.
- Advanced training in the latest versions of Primavera, including EPPM.
- Professional knowledge of construction methods and procedures.
- Strong expertise in project planning and scheduling software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
