Job Summary

The Senior Estimator – MEP is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates and tenders for Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing works. The role involves detailed quantity take-offs, cost analysis, risk assessment, and coordination with internal teams and suppliers to ensure profitable bids.

Key Responsibilities Estimation & Tendering

  • Prepare detailed MEP cost estimates, BOQs, and tender submissions
  • Perform quantity take-offs for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, firefighting, and ELV systems
  • Review drawings, specifications, and tender documents for scope clarity

Cost Analysis & Pricing

  • Analyze material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs
  • Obtain, review, and negotiate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors
  • Prepare cost comparisons and optimized pricing strategies

Risk & Value Engineering

  • Identify technical and commercial risks during the tender stage
  • Propose value engineering options and alternative materials/systems
  • Assess feasibility, margins, and cash flow impacts

Coordination & Review

  • Coordinate with design, planning, procurement, and project teams
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and technical clarifications
  • Review and validate estimates for accuracy and compliance

Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare detailed cost breakdowns and tender reports
  • Maintain historical cost databases and rate libraries
  • Support management during bid reviews and approvals

Skills Required

  • Strong knowledge of MEP systems and construction practices
  • Excellent numerical, analytical, and cost control skills
  • Strong negotiation and communication abilities
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and estimation software
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight tender deadlines
  • High attention to detail and commercial awareness

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or Quantity Surveying

Experience

  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in MEP estimation
  • Experience in commercial, residential, or industrial MEP projects

Preferred

  • UAE / GCC experience
