Sr. Graphic Designer

Sr. Graphic Designer

Department: Commercial Division, Brand & Creative

Function: Art Direction & Design

Job Purpose

The Sr. Graphic Designer is the senior hands-on designer in the function. This role takes on the most complex and high-visibility design work (hero campaigns, seasonal launches, packaging artwork, sub-brand rollouts) with the craft skill and independence to deliver them without constant direction.

Where the Graphic Designer executes across channels under guidance, the Sr. Graphic Designer self-directs. They interpret a brief, set their own visual approach within brand guardrails, handle complex typography and layout challenges, and deliver production-ready work at hero level.

They also raise the standard around them, not by running formal programmes, but by producing work that sets the bar and by giving direct, practical feedback to junior designers on their day-to-day output.

Success looks like: hero campaign work that lands distinctively, packaging artwork that is production-perfect, junior designers who are improving because they are learning from this person's work and feedback, and a design lead who can hand this role a complex brief knowing it will come back right.

Key Responsibilities

Design Execution at Hero Level

  • Execute design for hero campaigns, seasonal launches, sub-brand rollouts, and peak-moment activations with minimal direction
  • Handle the most complex briefs in the team: multi-format campaigns, premium packaging, bilingual layouts
  • Deliver always-on design content for priority channels at a higher craft standard than the junior tier
  • Own visual execution from brief interpretation through to production-ready handoff
  • Self-direct visual approach within brand guardrails, setting composition, typography, and colour decisions without needing art direction on every piece
  • Present design work to senior stakeholders with clear rationale when required

Packaging & Print Production

  • Lead packaging artwork execution including die-lines, bleed, colour management, and print-ready handoff
  • Handle complex production scenarios: special finishes, multi-substrate, bilingual packaging
  • Own proof review and vendor liaison on assigned packaging work
  • Maintain packaging artwork quality across assigned product lines

Brand & Visual Consistency

  • Apply brand guardrails, design systems, and templates with expert-level judgement, knowing when to follow the system and when to flag that the system needs updating
  • Contribute new components and templates to the design system library based on campaign work
  • Maintain typographic consistency across Arabic and English layouts where applicable
  • Flag design-system gaps with proposed solutions

Cross-Craft Collaboration

  • Partner with Copy, Motion, and Photography on integrated creative delivery
  • Contribute design thinking at briefing stage, not just at execution
  • Support Art Direction on hero campaign visual direction through design exploration
  • Work with Creative AI on AI-assisted design workflows where applicable

Junior Designer Support

  • Guide Graphic Designers through direct feedback on their day-to-day work
  • Share practical craft knowledge (typography, layout, production) through working alongside them
  • Help junior designers solve design problems on live briefs
  • Lead by example through the quality of their own output

Production Craft & File Discipline

  • Handle production-grade artwork for print, packaging, digital, and OOH at the highest standard
  • Maintain rigorous file hygiene: naming, version control, archival
  • Own delivery-spec compliance on assigned work
  • Work across Adobe Creative Suite and Figma at expert level

Key Performance Indicators

  • Hero Design Quality Score: craft-review score on hero campaign work
  • On-Time Delivery: delivery rate of hero and always-on design work
  • Revision Cycle Count: average review rounds before approval (lower is better)
  • Production Quality Rate: percentage of production outputs reaching print/packaging without error
  • Design System Contribution: components contributed to the shared library per quarter
  • Packaging Artwork Accuracy: percentage of packaging artwork approved without production recall

Qualifications & Experience

Education: Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Fine Arts, or related. Strong portfolio essential.

Experience: 4 to 6 years as a graphic designer with campaign-lead experience. Strong portfolio across campaigns, packaging, and multi-format design. Prior experience working alongside junior designers preferred.

Skills: Expert Adobe Creative Suite and Figma. Strong typography, composition, grid, and colour skills. Packaging artwork craft including die-line and print-ready handoff. Bilingual Arabic-English layout capability advantageous. Familiarity with After Effects and AI-assisted design tools.

Attributes: Craft-obsessed, detail-driven, self-directed. Solves design problems independently. Collaborative across crafts. Comfortable working at pace under campaign pressure. Leads by the quality of their work.
