The Senior HIV/STI Health Educator, under the supervision of the HIV/STI Prevention Manager, advances population health by designing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive health promotion and education initiatives across diverse communities throughout the City of Detroit. This role plays a key part in developing and facilitating sexual health training programs tailored to meet the needs of adults, parents, guardians, youth, seniors, community partners, and other stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include equipping parents and guardians with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to communicate effectively with their children about sexual health, while also working directly with youth to strengthen their ability to make informed, healthy decisions regarding sex and relationships. The Senior HIV/STI Health Educator develops and delivers evidence-based curricula and training, participates in community engagement and outreach events, and builds strong, collaborative relationships with community-based organizations, schools, healthcare providers, and public and private partners to advance shared health priorities and promote sexual health awareness, HIV/STI prevention, and overall well-being.
HIV testing certification is preferred but not required at the time of hire; however, certification may be required at some point during employment. Work assignments may evolve as new initiatives and public health priorities emerge.

Bachelor's or Master's degree Public Health, Business Administration, Health Science Administration or other related field, with two years experience in community engagement, community organizing, and project coordination and implementation.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be substituted to meet the education and experience requirement of this position.
