HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
The Sr. HR Business Partner (HRBP) for Varsity Spirit Event Operations and Varsity Spirit Pro League serves as a strategic advisor, talent champion, and organizational effectiveness partner to senior leaders overseeing large-scale event execution, onsite operations teams, and the expanding Pro League business.
This role develops and executes HR strategies that strengthen leadership capability, elevate organizational performance, enhance employee engagement, and build a future-ready workforce that supports Varsity Spirit’s growth. The Sr. HRBP will collaborate closely with Varsity Spirit leadership to drive programs related to performance management, employee relations, culture, workforce planning, talent development, and change management. This position reports to the SVP, HR – Varsity Spirit & Varsity Brands HR Operations
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Strategic Partnership & Organizational Impact

Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to Event Operations & Pro League leadership teams, aligning people strategies with short- and long-term business objectives

Understand the unique operating model, onsite environment, and culture of Varsity Spirit to drive improved organizational performance

Influence and guide organizational design, workforce planning, and staffing strategies to support growth of the Event Operations and Pro League teams

Support and lead change-management initiatives, including business transformation, leadership transitions, restructuring efforts, or scaled event model enhancements
Talent Management & Leadership Development

Lead talent planning processes for Event Operations & Pro League, identifying critical skill gaps, succession needs, and leadership pipeline opportunities

Partner with leaders and Talent Acquisition to ensure business units are staffed for seasonal and year-round talent demands

Coach leaders on team effectiveness, goal setting, performance management, and employee development

Facilitate leadership development, mentoring, and skill-building opportunities to strengthen organizational capability
Employee Engagement, Culture & Relations

Drive a culture of high performance, accountability, inclusion, and engagement across distributed event-based teams

Act as a trusted partner to leaders in navigating complex employee relations situations and conflict resolution

Develop proactive engagement strategies tailored to remote, seasonal, traveling, and onsite event workforces

Promote and advocate for culture & inclusion programs, ensuring they are embedded across Event Operations and Pro League
Operational HR Excellence

Partner with Centers of Excellence (Talent Acquisition, Benefits, Compensation, D&I) to ensure consistent and efficient support.

Drive localized implementation of enterprise HR processes, programs, and tools

Use HR analytics to identify trends, diagnose organizational health, and propose data-driven solutions

Manage sensitive HR matters with confidentiality, discretion, and sound HR judgement
Event-Based HR Support (Specialized Responsibilities)

Support large-scale national events, championships, and Pro League competitions through planning, workforce scheduling, employee relations support, and onsite leadership coaching

Partner with field operations and event directors to ensure adequate staffing, performance consistency, and strong leadership presence

Promote and advocate for corporate DE&I programs, ensuring they are embedded across Event Operations and Pro League.

Partner with Centers of Excellence (Talent Acquisition, Benefits, Compensation, D&I) to ensure consistent and efficient support.

QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Strong understanding of HR disciplines: employee relations, performance management, talent management, organizational effectiveness, compensation as well as culture and inclusion initiatives

Deep knowledge of employment law, conflict resolution, and compliance requirements

Ability to understand business strategy and align HR initiatives accordingly

Exceptional communication, coaching, and influencing skills with the ability to partner with senior leaders

Critical thinking, problem solving, and the ability to navigate complex, fast-paced environments

Ability to build trust, credibility, and strong cross-functional relationships

Ability to work in a matrixed environment and influence without direct authority

Ability handle multiple priorities while maintaining long-term strategic focus
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required

10+ years of progressive HR Business Partner experience, preferably within operations, events, or fast-paced environments

Experience supporting senior leaders and navigating large-scale organizational or cultural transformation

Strong proficiency in MS Office, Teams, and related business tools

PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar HR certification preferred
