In Kansas City, Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies (FM&T) manages and operates the U.S. Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) Kansas City National Security Campus. This state-of-the-art engineering, manufacturing and sourcing facility produces a wide array of intricate components to deliver trusted national security products and government services primarily for the NNSA. Collaborates with the Import/Export team on projects related to import/export activities. Assures processes, procedures and training programs are being followed to comply with international, federal, and state regulations.
- Executes processes for ensuring compliance with international trade regulations for FM&T at all locations including main Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC)NSC and New Mexico.
- Gathers supporting documentation for procuring import/export licenses, permits, certifications, authorizations, and technology release determinations where necessary.
- Assists engineering staff with import/export classification of hardware, software, and technology.
- Helps maintain effective working relationships with trade compliance personnel at corporate headquarters, other business units and within the Nuclear Security Enterprise.
- Works with security, legal, quality, and purchasing to ensure regulations, policies, and procedures are followed.
- Interacts with U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials, customs brokers, and freight forwarders regarding international shipment activities.
- Utilizes Six Sigma techniques to identify, develop, and implement procedural changes related to import/export activities.
- Assists with self-assessments of the import/export program.
- Supports the Legal Department with investigations and resolving compliance problems, questions, or complaints.
- Provides expertise in export compliance topics in the development of training, reference materials, and best practice guides for internal and external audience and in collaboration with federal sponsors.
- Works collaboratively with other elements of the Department of Energy (DOE)/National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) complex in consultation on compliance best practices and the delivery of training as part of NNSA’s Export Compliance Assistance Program.
- Bachelor`s degree required.
- Minimum five years professional level experience in the international trade compliance field or equivalent appropriate experience sufficient in scope to assure effective application of these programs.
- Knowledge of the U.S. export licensing regulations, Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and Office of Foreign Asset Controls (OFAC).
- Ability to travel as determined by the needs on the business.
- Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.
- United States Citizenship.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DOE security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to effectively interact with all levels of personnel, external government officials, and suppliers.
- Experience working with the NNSA and/or DOE.
