The Senior Information Systems Engineer is the technical owner of our Atlassian ecosystem (Jira and Confluence), responsible for designing, scaling, securing, and automating enterprise-grade collaboration platforms. This role requires deep hands-on expertise, strong architectural judgment, and the ability to influence without formal authority while driving reliability, best practices, and modern DevOps ways of working. You will partner closely with IT and Security leaders to ensure Jira and Confluence enable secure, high-performing, and efficient software delivery across the organization.
Primary/Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary technical owner for Jira and Confluence, overseeing architecture, reliability, and day-to-day operations.
Design, build, and maintain scalable, highly available cloud architectures with strong performance and disaster recovery.
Lead platform strategy, roadmap planning, and technical decision-making for Atlassian Cloud.
Evaluate, implement, and optimize Atlassian product features and Marketplace applications.
Drive automation of Jira and Confluence administration using APIs, scripting, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
Establish and enforce standards for workflows, configurations, governance, and reusable automation patterns.
Integrate Atlassian tools with CI/CD pipelines, source control systems, identity providers, and observability platforms.
Lead upgrades, migrations, incident response, and complex configuration changes with minimal downtime and thorough root cause analysis.
Partner with Security, Compliance, IT, and process leaders to meet enterprise requirements and optimize agile delivery workflows.
Design dashboards, metrics, documentation, and self-service capabilities while mentoring junior engineers and serving as a trusted DevOps advisor.
Experience leading or participating in enterprise Atlassian migrations
Required Qualifications:
6+ years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Systems Engineering
4+ years of hands-on experience administering Jira and Confluence at scale
Strong expertise in Agile frameworks and software development lifecycles
Experience integrating Atlassian tools with CI/CD platforms and source control
Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure and platform reliability
Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Atlassian certifications (ACP-100, ACP-120, ACP-620, ACP-420)
Experience with Atlassian Cloud Enterprise
Advanced experience with scripting and automation (e.g., Python, Groovy, Bash, REST APIs).
